Re: Surf2TheSurf June 2010 North Carolina
Ha ha....Ranting people out seems to be the nice way of us road sufferers ay?
Planning is coming together but training is crap. North Carolina is experiencing its worst winter in my lifetime...seriously ..never seen anything like it. We have had three weekends a row with snow, two of which delivered a half a foot or more, and rain, cold, cold rain. Temperatures have been brutal for this part of the country too ..The average daily high for this time of year is around 50 to 55 f. This week we will not see a high greater than 44 and mostly temps below 32. On what days I could get on the road I did 30 miles that started at 34 degrees and ended up at 25 degrees when I was finished.
Lots of indoor training, ellipitcal trainer, agility ladders, and walking.
Tomorrow I go to Asheville, the starting spot for the push, with the Director of the charity I am skating for to meet with local officials, potential sponsorships, and the regional Department of Transportation road engineer to plan a safe route out of the the city on the 1st day of the event. It's critical we bypass one particular mountain but our road options are limited so having their help is going to be invaluable.
Stay tuned to the blog and here for more updates.

With you on the weather. It's only just starting to get Spring-y here. I've done zero training for the upcomming 24hr event however part of me isn't overly bothered. That board looks mighty fine.

Re: Surf2TheSurf June 2010 North Carolina
We finally got some great weather and I had a 14 mile day on Saturday and 45 mile day on Sunday. Rain is in the forecast for this weekend and depending on the severity it will determine if I skate or not. I know skating in the rain is something I need to train doing but man the hills around here are sketchy wet.
Good luck in the 24 hour!!

Marion, you can switch up the fpormat of the links for each page in wordpress, its in one of the settings somewhere. so instead of http://hammerhead.skatefurther.net/2010 ... iacovelli/it would be http://hammerhead.skatefurther.net/volu ... iacovelli/

Awesome journey, and is that a police escort? Finally a charitable skate I can really relate to, best of luck Marion!
