Who are we?
Skate Further was founded in 2007 to help promote the growing long distance skating community in the UK and further afield. We wanted to bring people together who had similar goals, interests and talents – people who weren’t afraid to push slightly further than they expected to.
CORE WEB TEAM:
The website here is run by a team of passionate skaters, who want nothing more than to see you smile on a skateboard:

Nat Halliday (wafflesole) is a lynchpin of British distance skating. A skater practically since birth, he rides park, bowl and pool, frequents slalom podiums and along with a few other lovely people, rode his beloved Rayne Demonseed the length of New Zealand…he’s also a brand new daddy and we expect to see young Noah rolling around with his old man fairly soon. He runs the front end of the site with Laura and recently took up the role of NZ Correspondent for Concrete Wave Magazine.

Ben Colchester-Hall (skatefurther ben) is one of those skaters who will always push some boundary somewhere. Having taken part in the first UK Ultraskate with Nat at Dorney, and almost pushed from John O’Groats to Land’s End (blame the cattle grids of Dartmoor), Ben will continue to wear lycra, push like a beast and try and beat you all. Ben has just returned from a huge long trek around Europe with Rob, make sure you check out Skating South!

Tom Lewis (crash bandicoot) is a nutter. Boards, bikes, cars, he likes anything thats fast enough to do something stupid on. Initially involved from the off, organising charity skates and supporting Ben on his infamous John O’Groats to Lands End trip he has recently returned from a years travelling. Now resting up and recovering from injuries hes busy behind the scenes maintaining the main site, running the forum and is responsible for making sure that your experience here is SPAM free. Laura Hatwell (skatersjourney) replaced original Skate Further founder Sam Benson, who moved onto pastures new (he’s going to be a daddy!). She was part of the 2006 Boardfree adventure in Oz, and lives distance. Along with Nat, she comes up with content and manages front end design for Skate Further. In the summer of 2009 she skated the true length of Scotland (Shetland, Orkney, Mainland baby) unsupported. Laura was the first woman to do a journey like this, and is known as the “First Female Ultraskater”, having cracked open the door for women skating 100+ miles in 24 hours in 2008. 2010 has seen her working as a trip manager for Orsum’s JOGLE, and she is now a UK Correspondent for Concrete Wave Magazine. As part of the Long Treks team, you can’t see her sitting still for long…

Rob Hanson is Skate Further’s addition for 2010 – he’s a dedicated and talented skater, and shreds in all disciplines. Rob has a strong faith, a strong heart and really, really strong legs. He recently returned from Skating South with Ben and is already planning his next trip. We welcome Rob as our Skatefurther UK Team Member.

Chris Vallender made himself known to us all at Goodwood Roller Marathon last year. His love of distance skating has seen him literally carve a niche for himself in the Paris skate scene, and we thought it was about time he came on board to tell us how he’s spreading the stoke out there. Welcome Chris as our Skatefurther Euro Team Member.

Marion Spears- Karr is our US Skatefurther man on the ground. In 2010 he skated across North Carolina and this year organised the epic Chief Ladiga Silver Comet Skate Challenge. This even put endurance skating over 3 days on the map and we are stoked to have Marion as part of the team.

Nik Randall – Skatefurther Team UK. Bio coming soon!
ATTENTION! WE ARE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR SKATEFURTHER TEAM MEMBERS IN ASIA, AUSTRALIA AND CANADA!
A team member feeds information onto blogs, raise the profile of distance skating in their area, and provide content for the site without all the hassle of actually having to fiddle around with web design. Email nat@skatefurther if you fancy joining us.
